Most people know roughly what they want to say. What stalls them is the gap between the message they want to send and the one that won't cost them anything — too eager, too cold, too much explanation attached to a simple no.
Having three versions in front of you collapses that. Seeing the warm one next to the direct one makes it obvious which one you actually mean.
The hardest messages to answer
The dry text that gives you nothing to work with. The vague 'we should hang out sometime' with no day attached. The apology that isn't quite one. The reappearance after two weeks of silence. The message that asks for something you don't want to give.
Each of those has a version that keeps the door open and a version that closes it cleanly. Both are legitimate — the mistake is sending a muddled third thing that does neither.
Rules worth keeping
Match length roughly, don't double it. Answer the question that was asked before adding a new one. Propose a specific day if you want a plan — 'sometime' never becomes a date. And if a message makes your chest tight, draft it, then wait ten minutes before sending.
