How to Write a Dating Profile That Attracts the Right Man

Most profiles are written to be *liked*. The script below writes one that's written to be *understood* — which is faster, kinder, and a better filter.

The script

Lovelara, my dating profile is generic and the men it attracts are also generic. Help me rewrite it so it filters *in* the kind of partner I actually want:

1) Ask me 4 questions about the man I'm looking for — not his demographics, his *texture* (how he handles conflict, what he laughs at, what he prioritizes).
2) Help me identify 2-3 things I currently hide because I think they'll "limit my options" — and tell me which to lead with instead. Specificity is a magnet, not a filter.
3) Rewrite my bio in 3 styles — playful, grounded, lightly intellectual — so I can pick the voice that's actually mine.
4) Give me 3 prompt answers that reveal personality and invite a real opener (not "ask me about my dog").
5) Tell me which of my photos are *actually* working and which to cut. (Ask me to describe each one if I can't share them.)

What I have now: [paste current bio + describe your photo set].

When to use this

  • Your matches are the wrong men, on repeat.
  • Your bio reads like everyone else's.
  • You're tired of dates that should never have happened.
  • You'd rather get fewer matches that actually fit.

What not to do

  • Don't list your hobbies as adjectives ('curious, kind, adventurous').
  • Don't write a bio that doesn't *cost* you any matches — that one isn't filtering anything.
  • Don't perform 'low maintenance' if you aren't.
  • Don't use a six-year-old photo.

Common questions

Should I be specific or mysterious?

Specific. Mystery is a marketing line, not a strategy. Specifics filter; mystery attracts everyone — including the wrong everyone.

How long should the bio be?

Long enough to say one true thing, short enough to read in 8 seconds. Usually 3–5 lines.

Should I mention deal-breakers?

One, if it's important. Five turns the bio into a list of warnings.
